The Modern Version of
Scouting & Guiding
Fishguard Navigators Uniform Shop
The main focus of UK Navigators is the development of young people by encouraging them to follow a Moral Compass. Put simply, we encourage our members to “do the right thing”.
UK Navigators is based on a movement that began in the USA, and is rapidly growing and is now in the UK. It's compared as 'modern version of Scouting & Guiding.' Navigators is an open movement and welcomes all races, religions and genders, but itself follows no stated religious or political path.
Our members get up to a wide range of activities from Bushcraft to Art and Crafts, from Tomahawks to Abseiling and Paintballing to Zorbing. Limited only by the imagination of our young people and the Adults. Children can obtain a number of badges or rewards designed around them or just elect to try out new experiences.
Each Navigator Group is determined by the needs of their local community and so each group can be operated in a way that works for them. Here at Fishguard Navigators we follow a broad census of being strong in doing lots Enviromentilism, adventure activities and being a central part of our local community. We aim to help & support our local community and in return we will gain the support of them.
As a volunteer youth group we operate on a subscription & fundraising basis. Obviously we have a number of bills to pay as a unit such as rent, insurance and buying adventure equipment.
There is membership fee for each young person in the unit, plus there is a small annual insurance fee of £25 that goes towards the insurance of the each young person.
Membership is £10 per month taken by Standing Order at
the start of each month.
(Outside activities such as camps etc will be charged separately.)
We are a relaxed uniform movement, plus we are not a military connected movement in any way, unilike other youth groups. We ask that all members purchase a Navigators Hoodie & T-Shirt, and that is basically it. There are other clothing options such as Beanie hats if you wish. These can be purchased from our online shop, when your son/daughter joins.
All leaders/instructors/committee are volunteers, and run the unit unpaid. The unit is supported by a committee who help with the overall running of the unit in the background. Parents of young members are always welcome to help out on the committee.
All adults working on a regular basis, or working unsupervised with young people, will have a DBS check run through Pembrokeshire County Council, all activity Leaders will hold first aid training, and all will undertake Safeguarding Training.
Fishguard Navigators is a brand new unit starting in September 2019. This is not only the first locally but the first in Wales. Our group is part of the National Navigators UK networkof groups, where ou can find other groups all over England & Scotland.
Fishguard Navigators is open to all young people aged between
6 & 16. We're not a group where you have to fit a particular mold and here we put the young people first. So if your child is up for a bit of adventure and making a difference in your community.
